Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. doesn’t believe that there’s any fire near the massive amount of smoke that is surrounding his little brother, Jontay Porter.

“I know my brother my whole life, I know what type of dude he is, I know he’s excited to play basketball, and I highly doubt he would do anything to put that in jeopardy,” Michael said of Jontay.

The NBA is currently investigating Jontay for suspicious betting patterns involving his player props, where he took himself out from two games.

Jontay, a fringe NBA player who has bounced in and out of the league for the past four years, had player props posted on him just a handful of times.

His unders were one of DraftKings‘ biggest losses of the season.

One bettor posted an unconfirmed ticket on DraftKings of a massive $80,000 bet that won $1.2 million betting on Jontay’s unders.

The Post reported on Tuesday that Jontay promoted gambling through a burner social media account during the 2022 March Madness Tournament.

Jontay got an opportunity to play with the Raptors in December when he signed a ten-day contract, which he was able to parlay into a season-long deal.

Michael, a star role player for the Denver Nuggets, is currently on a five-year deal worth $180 million, while Jontay makes near the league minimum, just $415,000.

In 2022, Jontay was not in the league, so he did not break any rules while promoting gambling.

Betting on the NBA?

However, NBA players are not allowed to bet on basketball under any circumstances.

If Jontay had been on an NBA roster at the time of his tweets, he would have been prohibited from gambling on basketball and face harsh consequences if he had been caught.

The NBA’s investigation is still ongoing and Jontay has not been charged with any infractions.
