Man Charged With Shooting a Married Couple That He Met on a Dating App and Killing the Wife

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 7, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Police in Dallas, Texas, continue to investigate a deadly shooting that involved three people who investigators allege all met using an online dating app.

Detectives did not specify which app Noah Trueba had used to match with a married couple in their 50s, but that is exactly what they allege happened.

A statement released to the press on the shooting alleges that Trueba, 26, met up with the couple, and that all three of them drank alcohol and used drugs together.

“On January 2, 2026, at approximately 5:10 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 11800 block of High Meadow Drive” in northwest Dallas, according to the press release. “The preliminary investigation determined two individuals were shot at the location by a known suspect.”

Trueba allegedly fled the scene of the shooting on foot. However, police used a drone to track him to a nearby highway, where he was allegedly attempting to hide.

Trueba allegedly told police after his arrest that the couple tried to sexually assault him. In response, he allegedly said he opened fire, hitting both of the victims.

Dallas Fire-Rescue did respond to the shooting scene and pronounced Guadalupe Gonzalez, 57, dead soon after arrival.

The second male victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. His name and age were not provided by authorities.

Trueba is being held in the Dallas County Jail after being charged with murder. A bond amount has not been set. Additional charges are being considered, according to police.

He has not been asked by a judge to enter pleas to the charges, and he has no attorney of record at the moment.

It is asked that anyone with any information about the shooting come forward and contact Detective Brewster Billings at (214) 671-3083. He can also be emailed at [email protected].

The most recent statistics about violence and online dating suggest that violent sexual predators will use dating apps to target vulnerable men and women.

Data from 2024 shows there is a one in 160,000 chance of meeting a murderer through a dating app. An alarming 31% of women have reported being sexually assaulted by someone they matched with on a dating site, and research shows 10% of registered sex offenders use dating apps to find potential victims.

One in 3 women using online dating services have reported experiencing harassment or threatening behavior from men, and one in 10 women reported feeling unsafe during their initial meeting with someone they met through online platforms or apps.

There have been more than 100 online dating-related murders documented in the U.S. since 2014. Online dating-related violence occurs within the first in-person meeting in 2 out of every 5 cases, with men twice as likely as women to be perpetrators of violent crimes following an online dating interaction.

More than 30% of all murders associated with online dating involve people under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
