Kristin Cavallari hasn’t been in a rush to find someone new after her split from Mark Estes, which has affected her sex life.
During the Tuesday, August 19, episode of her “Let’s Be Honest With Kristin Cavallari” podcast, the Hills alum, 38, praised her bond with longtime friend Justin Anderson before discussing her dating life.
“I really am able to get a lot from Justin, which, hey, maybe that’s why I haven’t felt the need to settle or make a man work,” she noted. “Because I’ve gained a lot from Justin that I would need from a man.”
Cavallari noted that there are some needs that don’t get met in a friendship, adding, “Other than sex, obviously, which we won’t even go there ’cause the lack of that is, that’s really sad.”
After pulling the plug on her romance with Estes, 25, Cavallari hasn’t fully returned to the dating scene.
“I haven’t been dating this year, you guys. I haven’t been dating,” she shared. “I did just go on a date, and it was a great date and it was a really great first date back in the game.”
Cavallari continued, “But I am kind of back out there, not back out there. I went on one date. But I was excited to go on a date. I’ve needed this year to kind of just focus on myself.”
The former reality TV star was in a relationship with Estes for less than a month before their breakup.
“It’s hard because I broke up with Mark because I just know long-term it’s not right, and it’s not because of love lost or something bad happened,” she explained on her podcast in October 2024. “He’s been the best boyfriend I’ve ever had. I just know long-term he needs to experience life, he’s young. … I started to feel the age a little bit with life experience.”
Cavallari’s connection with Estes came after her high-profile split from ex-husband Jay Cutler. The former couple, who share kids Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 9, were married for nearly seven years before their April 2020 split.
“We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of,” the former couple wrote in a joint statement at the time. “This is just the situation of two people growing apart.”
Cutler, 42, later revealed how difficult the dating scene had become since he was last single. “The whole landscape has changed. There are apps, there’s Twitter, there’s Instagram, it’s a whole different ball game,” the athlete, who is now engaged to Samantha Robertson, detailed during an episode of his “Uncut With Jay Cutler” podcast in August 2021. “You’re not just walking into a restaurant or bar and talking to somebody. That doesn’t exist anymore.”
Cavallari, meanwhile, stood by her decision to pull the plug on her marriage.
“The scariest thing that I’ve ever done is get a divorce. But it’s been the best thing that I’ve ever done and that has really jumpstarted my journey on self-love and figuring out who I am now,” she said during an episode of “The School of Greatness” podcast in June 2022.
Cavallari continued, “My kids have inspired me to become the best version of myself. I can only be as good to my kids as I am to myself. If I am empty, I have nothing to give them. Being able to be energized and love myself so I can love on my kids — and support them and encourage them — that’s the most important thing.”
