Anne Hathaway and her son Jack were caught off guard while sitting courtside at a New York Knicks game.
Hathaway, 42, sported chic sunglasses, a denim top with a sparkly collar and a regal updo as she sat next to Jack, who was born in November 2019, as the Knicks battled the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, November 13. Jack wore a Knicks jersey in honor of his hometown team, who ultimately lost to the Bulls, 124 to 123.
During the televised matchup, Knicks player Ogugua “OG” Anunoby lost control of the ball, and as he chased after it, he leaped over a barrier and stumbled into Hathaway. Her popcorn went flying and Jack looked astonished. Anunoby, 27, grinned as he got back on the court, and Hathaway was smiling as well. Everyone emerged unscathed, per video footage found online.
“Anunoby’s scaring those along the sidelines,” a TV commentator joked, adding of Jack, “He’s not happy about the popcorn being spilled, that’s for sure. There’s always more popcorn, young man.”
The commentator’s co-host remarked, “The lil kid was mesmerized. He couldn’t move.”
Following the run-in, Hathaway was seen comforting Jack by rubbing his back.

It was a rare public outing for the Oscar-winning actress and her child. Hathaway generally keeps her personal and professional lives separate, and maintains a low profile when out with her family. She and her husband, Adam Shulman, married in September 2012 and share Jack as well as son Jonathan, 8.
During an interview with WSJ. Magazine published in March 2022, Hathaway said that she felt “fully landed and fully here” after becoming a parent.
“It’s not like I was lacking integrity, but it made me want to be completely, on every level, true to my word,” she shared at the time. “And that meant stopping any nonsense that I had going on inside myself. And it’s little breaks that you give yourself sometimes when you know that you’re not being your best self.”
In July, The Idea of You star brought Jonathan to a Taylor Swift concert in Germany, where they watched the performance from the VIP section. Hathaway traded friendship bracelets with concertgoers and Jonathan was seen handing out bags of treats and bottles of water to show attendees across the barricade.
“Did not think I would be spending #GelsenkirchenTSTheErasTour in front of Anne Hathaway and her family,” one fan quipped via X, sharing a selfie with Hathaway. “She was the sweetest, taking pictures and dancing and her son came to bring us snacks from their stash and traded bracelets with us.”
