Keurig recalls over 80K coffee pods

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 28, 20262 ViewsNo Comments

Keurig Dr Pepper has recalled more than 80,000 McDonald’s brand coffee pods because they may contain caffeine, despite being labeled “decaf,” according to the Food & Drug Administration.

The food giant issued a voluntary recall in December of its McCafé Premium Roast Decaf Coffee K-Cup Pods, which are sold in 84-count cartons.

On Jan. 23, the FDA categorized it as a Class II recall, meaning exposure to the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.”

Some consumers avoid caffeine because of risks associated with health conditions like heart problems, diabetes or osteoporosis — which affects around 128 million American — or half the nation’s adults.

Pregnant women also often avoid caffeine.

Caffeine intake in some people with health conditions can increase symptoms like anxiety, urinary incontinence or seizures, or raise the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack or stroke, according to the Mayo Clinic.

“We are committed to the highest standards of safety and quality in the products we produce and distribute,” a Keurig Dr Pepper spokesperson told The Post.

“All consumers who purchased this product were notified directly by the retailer a little more than a month ago and provided with next steps regarding replacement product.  All impacted product remaining with the retailer has been returned to us.”

Massachusetts-based distributor Keurig Green Mountain sent the coffee pods to locations in California, Indiana and Nevada, according to the FDA.

The recalled coffee pods have a best by date of Nov. 17, 2026, and batch number 5101564894.

Keurig did not issue a press release about how to return the recalled products or seek a refund.
