Keanu Reeves isn’t bothered about recent speculation that he secretly tied the knot with girlfriend Alexandra Grant.
“Well, that wasn’t the first time,” Reeves, 61, said of the rumors in an interview with E! News at the New York City premiere of his latest movie, Good Fortune, on Monday, October 13.
“We’ve been going out for a long time,” the actor added.
“The wedding, it’s a nice thing,” Reeves said. “People did a lot of nice messages and stuff, but Alexandra just did a wonderful [job] addressing, like, ‘Thank you, but here’s the reality.’”
Indeed, both reps for Reeves and Grant, 52, herself shut down rumors of marriage that first surfaced in September.
“It is not true,” Reeves’ representative said in a statement to E! News on September 22. “They are not married.”
Two days later, Grant cleared up the rumors while sharing a sweet Instagram photo of her and Reeves locking lips.
“This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it… given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!) We’re at Roden Crater, and Keanu and Gard had just finished interviewing James Turrell for Visionaries,” the visual artist captioned the post.
She continued, “I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!”
While Reeves and Grant are not in a hurry to walk down the aisle, they did hit the red carpet Monday night for the premiere of Good Fortune, Reeves’ new movie directed by comedian Aziz Ansari.
The couple held hands and packed on the PDA as they shared a kiss on the red carpet during Monday’s event at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater.
The Matrix actor was dapper in a sleek brown suit, while Grant looked a vision in a sapphire-colored sleeveless dress with silver jewelry detailing around the neckline.
The couple’s latest outing comes just two weeks after they also appeared loved up on the red carpet outside the Hudson Theatre in New York City on the opening night of Reeves’ new play, Waiting for Godot. Reeves and Grant held hands as they posed for photos on that occasion.
Reeves and Grant met in 2009. They went public with their romance in 2019 when Grant attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala with the actor in November that year.
The couple have largely kept their relationship private, however, Grant recently paid tribute to her man with a romantic Instagram post to mark his 61st birthday in September.
“Thank you to everyone for sending over sweet wishes for Keanu’s birthday yesterday… he was well-celebrated!” she wrote. “As many of you know, Keanu isn’t on any social media platforms and doesn’t see posts or memes unless someone who is shows him.”
“And to Keanu – who saw this post as a draft! – I am so grateful for your love and partnership. Now back to painting! xo,” she added.
