Justin Thomas kicked off the first round of the 2025 Masters by dropping an F-word that isn’t “fore.”
The two-time major champion didn’t mince his frustration Thursday at Augusta National, where he posted a one-over par on the front nine, and used a certain expletive in the process.
Warning: Explicit language
“F–king heeled it, God damn it,” Thomas appeared to say after he failed to catch enough to clear the fairway bunker on the par-5 8th hole, according to featured group coverage
Thomas, despite chunking his third shot, would end up making par on the hole in what was a microcosm of his round.
He relied on his short game to get up-and-down for par throughout much of the day to keep him from imploding at Augusta.
Thomas, who bogeyed the fifth and 13th hole, was two-over through 13 holes.
Making his 10th Masters start, Thomas is looking to bounce back after missing the cut last year at the season’s first major.
His best finish at the Masters was in 2020 when he placed fourth.
Thomas, 31, geared up for this year’s tournament with two new members on his team.
On Wednesday, he and wife Jillian took in their first Par 3 contest with daughter Molly, who arrived in November.
The two-time PGA Tour champion called the family-focused event, where the loved ones of the pros serve as caddies, an “amazing day.”
“The par 3 contest @themasters was a little different today than past years! An amazing day with my girls, the Spieths, and the Homa crew. Incredible memories we will cherish forever,” Thomas wrote Wednesday on Instagram.
The University of Alabama alum also brought fill-in caddie Joe Greiner aboard this week after his regular caddie, Matt “Rev” Minister, sustained a back injury.
Greiner recently parted ways with fellow PGA Tour star Max Homa, his childhood friend.
Homa, 34, placed third at Augusta last year. He is two-under through four holes as of Thursday afternoon.
Reigning Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is currently atop the leaderboard at three-under through 10.
The Masters concludes on Sunday.
