Lefty comedian Jon Stewart did a double take Monday after spotting a man with a striking resemblance to the commander-in-chief – whom he dubbed, “back-up Trump” – wandering near the president.
“The Daily Show” host zeroed in on the president’s lookalike after playing a clip of Trump’s remarks to reporters at Joint Base Andrews following the World Cup final in New Jersey.
The clip showed a man in a navy suit and blue tie, who appeared to be around the same age as Trump, and with a similar build and gait, wandering near Air Force One at the same time the president was addressing the media – which threw Stewart for a loop.
“What’s up with the guy behind Trump? Can we see that again? Can you bring that out?” Stewart said after playing the clip.
“Who the f–k is this guy?” the dumbstruck comedian exclaimed. “Who in the world is it? Oh my God! Is that a back-up Trump?”
Stewart went on to jokingly suggest the mystery man may serve as Trump’s body double.
“Wait, what? Wait, who? What? Is that a back-up Trump or is that Trump?” he said. “Wait, is the one we’ve been dealing with back-up Trump or is that Trump?”
The Trump doppelganger appears to be none other than his father-in-law, Viktor Knavs, who attended the World Cup final with the president and his daughter, first lady Melania Trump.
Knavs would be an imperfect body double, as he is two years older than the president, has grayer hair and is quite a bit shorter than Trump – but from the camera angle Stewart used, they look eerily similar.
Body double conspiracy theories involving the Trump White House have been floated before.
During the president’s first term, baseless claims that Melania employed a body double flooded the internet.
The #FakeMelania allegations even elicited an angry response from the president.
“The Fake News photoshopped pictures of Melania, then propelled conspiracy theories that it’s actually not her by my side in Alabama and other places,” Trump wrote on X in March 2019.
“They are only getting more deranged with time!” the president fumed.
