A JoJo Siwa fan allegedly ejected from a recent concert by the singer is apologizing for offending her.
In a Saturday, October 4, TikTok post, a fan identified as Anjali claimed she was removed from Siwa’s performance in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday, October 1, after bringing a hoodie featuring a viral meme of Siwa, 22, shaped like an egg. (In the past, the “Karma” singer has spoken of her insecurities about her hairline.)
In the video, the fan said she didn’t realize the context behind the image, which appears to mock Siwa’s hairline, and apologized for bringing the item to the concert. “I’m so, so sorry,” Anjali wrote over the video, in which she said she “was about to have a panic attack because I’ve never been kicked out of a concert before.”
The fan said she intended to make Siwa laugh, adding, “All the other concerts I’ve been to, they find stuff like that really funny. It’s a common thing for people to bring funny pictures.”
In the caption, the fan wrote, “Me and my best friend were really looking forward to seeing JoJo originally as a joke, but then she started really growing on us and I was genuinely really looking forward to seeing her since she seems pretty cool!!”
“We didn’t have any merch so we decided to just print off the first picture we saw and stick it on our clothes, we didn’t look at the backstory behind it or know it would be a trigger for her, else we absolutely would not have done that,” Anjali explained. “None of it was with malicious intent. We didn’t throw it at her, we passed it to her like she asked.”
Fan footage from the Glasgow concert shared on TikTok shows Siwa holding up a hoodie with a picture taped to it. “Wanna see what happens when you do stuff like this?” she can be heard saying, before directing someone off-camera to remove people from the gig.
“You’re not going to come to my concert and bring a hoodie making fun of me. No way,” Siwa is heard saying. “Thank you for coming. Appreciate it, but we only got room for infinity hearts in here, right? Not in my house, baby.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Siwa’s representative for comment.
In an emotional TikTok video posted in July, the Dance Moms alum opened up about insecurities regarding her hairline and praised boyfriend Chris Hughes, 32, for helping her overcome them.
“I’m drying my hair right now and he goes, ‘You have a really good hairline,’” Siwa said through tears. “That was the No. 1 thing I was bullied for as a kid. That’s made me destroy myself over the years. And you just said it out of literal nowhere. It was just really nice.”
In the caption, Siwa said that memes about her hairline had affected her confidence in the past.
The singer has previously opened up about experiencing childhood hair loss due to stress.
