Joel Sherman’s 3 Things I Think: Freddy Peralta’s Mets future

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 4, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

Joel Sherman kicks off his piece Wednesday with the question of whether the Mets should consider extending their new hurler Freddy Peralta early. He’ll weigh the plusses and minuses for both Mets brass and the player, and comps Peralta’s future earnings with other similar pitchers who have gotten paid in the past.

Next, Nolan McLean has been battling vertigo and is also lined up to pitch the WBC final if USA makes it that far in tournament play. Why is the young gun scheduled for that game ahead of, say, a Paul Skenes? And would there be any concerns from the Mets for him pitching that game?

Joel spoke to Mark DeRosa specifically on this topic and got his reasoning as to why.

Last, but most certainly not least, Joel pays tribute to former Mets media relations executive Shannon Forde, who passed away too soon 10 years ago today.
