The Jets’ instability at kicker brought an interesting name to Florham Park on Wednesday.
Former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who was a five-time All Pro in Baltimore, was among a group of kickers who tried out for the Jets, a source confirmed.
It appears it was the Jets doing due diligence but it will raise some eyebrows because Tucker was accused of inappropriate behavior during massages and that led to his release by the Ravens.
No legal action was ever taken against him, but the NFL did suspend Tucker for 10 games.
Tucker tried out along with Michael Badgley and Josh Karty.
The team claimed Blake Grupe off waivers from the Colts on Monday after neither Jason Sanders nor Cade York impressed in training camp this summer.
The Jets are trying to fill a hole at kicker after Nick Folk left in free agency and signed with the Falcons.
Tucker, 36, was nearly automatic at his peak in Baltimore but tailed off and his job was in jeopardy even before the accusations against him came to light.
He made 22 of 30 field goals in 2024 and missed two extra points.
The Saints tried Tucker out last season, but signed York instead.
The Colts gave him a tryout last year, too, and signed Grupe over him.
The Jets open the season Sept. 13 against the Titans and kicker remains a big area of concern.
