Jelly Roll was spotted without his wedding ring a week before news broke that he filed for divorce from wife Bunnie Xo.
In footage from the 2026 CMA Fest, which took place in Nashville the first weekend of June, Jelly Roll, 41, was seen on stage without his wedding ring on his finger.
Us Weekly subsequently confirmed on Monday, June 15, that the musician filed to end his marriage one month prior, submitting a divorce petition in Tennessee on May 18.
The former couple got married in 2016. Before their split, they were candid about the highs and lows in their relationship. Bunnie, 46, recently wrote about their early dating days in her memoir, which included mentions of Jelly Roll’s infidelity.
“I tried to be as real as possible with the situation,” she exclusively told Us Weekly about her book, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, which came out in February. “I think I might have even toned it down.”
Bunnie didn’t want to hold anything back, adding, “It’s just really important to be real. My husband is my best friend. I f***ing love that man — and we have been through hell.”
The content creator recalled realizing that “love isn’t always pretty.”
“It’s raw, it’s emotional and it’s a journey,” she added. “I’m so happy for people who have never had to go through anything traumatic in their relationships. But I just feel like my husband and I had to go through that because it’s part of our testimony. It’s a part of what we’ve survived — we choose to be together every day.”
Jelly Roll, meanwhile, praised his wife for being outspoken.
“It was rough at times just for me to read it,” he told People about her memoir. “We went through a lot of pain and having to go through it together, but reading the whole book and seeing where it ended at is really touching.”
Jelly Roll continued: “I’m just proud of her for telling her story so unapologetically. I mean, she talks about everything fearlessly, from domestic assault to sexual assault. I’m just proud of her. She’s so brave.”
In March, Jelly Roll publicly defended his wife from claims that she was a “gold digger” in their marriage.
“I love it when they call her a gold digger,” he told Taste of Country Nights. “She hates it. It just flames her up.”
Jelly Roll, for his part, found it funny.
“But it just tickles me absolutely pink because when I met her,” he noted, “I was homeless living out of a 1996 conversion van, so if anyone was digging for gold it was I, Popeye. I was couch-surfing and made it to the bedroom.”
