Merely hours before the start of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants have a clear plan for what they want to do Thursday night with the No. 3 overall pick. At this point, the selection of edge rusher Abdul Carter from Penn State remains the most logical outcome.
If it is impossible to find what they truly need — a franchise quarterback — it makes sense to continue to build on defense to become a top-10 unit. That is what the Giants believe they can be if they add Carter to their offseason acquisitions of cornerback Paulson Adebo, safety Jevon Holland and defensive end Chauncey Golston joined with returnees Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, a bunch of young defensive backs and their two starting inside linebackers, Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden.
The big question: Do the Giants see a franchise quarterback out there for them to get at No. 3? They definitely see Cam Ward as that player but he is all-but-locked into the Titans at No. 1. They have Shedeur Sanders as the second quarterback on their draft board but the feeling remains that if Sanders and Carter are there for the taking, the Giants will go with Carter.
Here are some of the most up-to-the-minute thoughts about the Giants and this draft:
