For the third time in four seasons, the Chiefs and Bills are meeting in the NFL Playoffs.
Back in January 2022, Patrick Mahomes and co. took down Josh Allen’s squad in a 42-36 overtime thriller. After an off-year in ’23, Kansas City prevailed again and won 27-24 against Buffalo.
This time around, the rivals will meet in the AFC Championship game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Coming into the high-stakes matchup, Andy Reid’s club is celebrating a 23-14 W over the Texans in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. In the third quarter, it looked like Houston might pull off a shocking upset after narrowing the score to 13-12 but, as always, the reigning Super Bowl champions found a way to win and answered with ten points in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Buffalo had a similarly tight Divisional Round experience this past weekend. On Sunday, Jan. 19, Sean McDermott’s team fell behind the Ravens 7-0 in the first quarter but quickly came back and held a 21-10 lead at halftime. After an impressive comeback run from Baltimore, quarterback Lamar Jackson tossed a pass to Mark Andrews in the end zone that would have tied the game 27-27. Unfortunately, the veteran tight end dropped the ball, the team lost their chance at a two-point conversion and the Bills held on to win 27-25.
With those tense showdowns in the rearview mirror, there’s only one game separating the Chiefs from their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance and an end to the Bills’ 31-year Super Bowl drought.

About the Chiefs vs. Bills matchup
In their most recent matchup, the Chiefs headed northeast to the Bills’ Highmark Stadium on Nov. 17.
Buffalo jumped out to an early 6-0 advantage in the first quarter. Shortly after, and Kansas City retaliated and took a 7-6 lead but, from that point on, Buffalo held on the rest of the way and ended up winning 30-21, handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season.
“Prior to [that] Sunday’s loss, the Chiefs won 15 straight games including playoffs last season, en route to a second straight title when they beat the 49ers in February’s Super Bowl,” the New York Post reported.
Mahomes completed 23-of-33 passes for 196 yards and a trio of touchdowns while Kareem Hunt rushed for 60 yards on 14 attempts.
On the other side of the field, Allen was 27-for-40 and tossed a touchdown pass.
While the Bills have the regular season edge, the Chiefs have a serious home-field advantage. The team is 9-0 at Arrowhead Stadium this year. The last time they lost on their turf was on Christmas Day 2023 when they fell 20-13 to the Raiders.
