Heidi Montag may have left the 2025 American Music Awards with what social media called the “worst wig” of the night, but the Hills alum has a different name for her beauty transformation.
“H Star,” Montag told Us Weekly exclusively of her temporarily bobbed, blonde coif.
Speaking to Us on the AMA red carpet, Montag, 38, sounded off on the look: “I just thought I’d go for the moment,” she revealed of her chin-length wig. “I’ve never done it, so it was fun!”
Montag is getting the last laugh, as the viral moment comes before her new album, Heidiwood, drops on Friday, May 31.
Spencer Pratt took to Instagram on Tuesday, May 27, to post a video of Montag and a screenshot of a pointed online comment: “I love, love, love her, but you should’ve stopped that wig.”
Pratt, 41, captioned his post: “For the wig haters please pre-order HEIDIWOOD now so that future wigs have more budget ❤️🙏.”
Montag and Pratt first rose to fame as they starred on the MTV reality series The Hills from 2007 to 2010. While on the series, the couple tied the knot in 2008. The pair share two sons, Gunner, 6, and Ryker, 2.
Montag told Us Weekly that her new album has also been a long time coming.
“I’ve been working on it for a year, and it’s just that fun, sexy, escape pop album that I feel like everybody’s needing right now,” Montag shared with Us exclusively. “So each song is a bop.”
The reality star turned singer also hit a sartorial high note in a blue bedazzled look by The Blonds, which recalled a look the designer created for Taylor Swift’s 2022 turn at the AMAs.
Montag’s new album single, “Blonde,” undoubtedly inspired the choice of designer.
The best accessory, however, isn’t a new wig but something else within. “Confidence is really sexy, and it goes a lot further than people think,” Montag told Us. “[It] radiates from the inside.”
Surely, her alter ego, H Star, would also agree.
