Google once again pushes back Fitbit account migration deadline — when to expect your account to expire

News RoomBy News RoomFebruary 3, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Google has pushed back the deadline for Fitbit users to migrate their data — again.

Fitbit users who have put off moving their data to a Google account now have until May 19, 2026, to do so.

Previously, the deadline was Feb. 2, but the Google help page for Fitbit account migration updated that date.

According to the post, users will no longer be able to access Fitbit with a Fitbit account as of the May 19 deadline. To continue using it, people will need to move their Fitbit account to Google.

It also now specifies that users can still download or delete their data any time before Google begins processing data deletions on July 15, 2026.

The company had previously noted that that Fitbit account data would be deleted, but they didn’t provide a date.

With this new time frame provided, it seems that Fitbit users will have a couple extra months to download their data from Fitbit even after the deadline to migrate their account to Google.

Unless Fitbit users download their data or choose to keep it when migrating to Google, they will lose access to their account and all historical data tied to the account.

Account migrations were originally set to have a 2025 deadline before getting pushed back to Feb. 2, 2026, and then again now to May 19.

For those who have yet to switch over, Google provided step-by-step instructions on the Fitbit support page.

To transfer your Fitbit account to a Google account, simply open the Fitbit app, sign into your account, tap “Settings” and select “Move account.” Then follow the on-screen instructions.

During the process, users will have the chance to review and make changes to their data and set up. They can also cancel at any time until the final step.

After migrating, Fitbit data will be able to be managed through Google Account settings and the Fitbit app.

It should be noted that anyone who created a new Fitbit account or purchased a device within roughly the last two years is already using the Google system and won’t need to migrate their data.
