Future of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ Revealed After Surprise Cancellation Rumors

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 27, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

The future of The Kelly Clarkson Show has finally been addressed after rumors swirled about the NBC show coming to an end.

A representative for the daytime talk show confirmed on Monday, January 26, to Entertainment Weekly that online speculation was false. They slammed the “rumor” while noting that the show’s producer and distributor NBC “will advise directly if there is a show update.”

They added, “We are not even halfway through season 7!”

The Kelly Clarkson Show returned for season 7 in September 2025 with a “Kellyoke” performance of The Weeknd’s hit “Blinding Lights.” The show also revealed new segment additions that shined the spotlight on new stories.

Clarkson’s opening monologue mentioned “finding the light and shining it on people who are really trying to make a difference” in their community. The show’s executive producer Alex Duda later broke down the two new segment additions: “Life Well Lit” and “Celebs With Skills.”

“When things are tough, [it’s that] Mister Rogers saying: ‘You look for the helpers.’ And that’s what we always try to do,” Duda told EW at the time. “So that’s why our premiere this year was just about going back to that and finding the light. And [Clarkson’s] always said that since the beginning of the show that that helps her, and I think, hopefully, it helps the viewers too.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show originally premiered in 2019 and has been a success story for NBC. The show brought in 2.3 million viewers during its 2024-2025 season, which led to a renewal from the network.

“Kelly Clarkson is a national treasure. We couldn’t wait to announce another season of The Kelly Clarkson Show, fresh off the top-rated Christmas in Rockefeller Center in which Kelly hosted,” Tracie Wilson, executive vice president of Syndication Studios and E! News at NBCUniversal, told Deadline in 2025. “There’s an appetite in talk for stories that entertain and inspire, and The Kelly Clarkson Show is a shining star that delivers for our stations and connects with viewers across multiple generations in meaningful ways.”

NBCUniversal chairman Valari Staab, meanwhile, praised Clarkson, 43, for continuing to “raise the bar in daytime television” in a separate statement to Deadline.

“The show’s consistent viewership, engaging content and high production quality has made it a valuable part of our programming lineup across the NBC-owned stations,” Staab added. “We’re pleased about its continued popularity and success.”

Clarkson briefly stepped away from The Kelly Clarkson Show amid ex-husband Brandon Blackstock‘s private battle with skin cancer. He died at age 48 in August 2025. The former couple were married from 2013 to 2022 and shared two children: daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington “Remy” Alexander, 9.
