Former NYPD Blue star Kim Delaney was arrested on Saturday, March 29, on a charge of felony assault.
TMZ first reported that police arrived at the home Delaney shares with her partner, James Morgan, around 10 a.m. Saturday morning. After both were checked for injuries they were each arrested — Morgan was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.
The Marina Del Rey Sheriff’s Station confirmed to Us Weekly that Delaney was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and James with domestic violence. As of 2:30 p.m. PST, Morgan had bonded out of jail and Delaney was still behind bars.
Representatives for Delaney did not immediately respond to Us‘s request for comment.
According to the LAPD’s website, Delaney’s next court date is April 1, 2025, in Los Angeles.
Delaney and a man presumed to be Morgan celebrated their second wedding anniversary on October 11, 2024. The actress shared a photo of the pair via Instagram on October 12 and wrote, “A beautiful 2nd wedding anniversary!!! 10/11. And now anniversary weekend! Great memories! I love you, hubby-your wife for life.. 💚💍💚.”
In January 2025, she shared a photo with the same man and captioned it, “#love always wins! Let’s keep this love and kindness with each other through these uncertain times! 🙏🍀.”
This isn’t Delaney’s first brush with the law. In January 2024, she was sued over an alleged hit-and-run in November 2022. The charges were filed by a man named Dzhamal Badalov for allegedly crashing into him on his motorcycle while driving in Los Angeles, according to legal documents obtained by Us, which were filed on in January 2024. In his filing, Badalov claims Delaney was seen “swerving through the streets” and “driving erratically” before causing him to be “thrown off his motorcycle and land onto the street.”
The filing states that Delaney “appeared intoxicated” and allegedly attempted to drive away after the crash but was stopped by bystanders. She proceeded to call someone on her phone, who allegedly suggested Delaney pay him off rather than call the cops. Badalov allegedly refused, and as a result, Delaney reportedly fled the scene.
Delaney also has a history of substance abuse. In 2011, she was escorted off stage at an event in Philadelphia honoring Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates after fumbling a speech.
