He doesn’t need to work on his serve after all.
The cocktails-holding man in the US Open clip who appeared to be getting snubbed by his date wasn’t dissed at all, he told The Post after the embarrassing footage went viral.
“It was very nice of the US Open to zoom in on me and not pan out or let that video run for two seconds longer,” the 43-year-old Brooklyn Heights Wall Streeter deadpanned.
The clip shows the man returning to his seat with two of the tournament’s signature cocktails, honey deuces, then seemingly trying to hand one off to the woman in the seat next to him, when another apparent suitor from the row above swoops in and hands her a $23 cocktail.
But the woman sitting next to him was not his wife, and the drink was not meant for her.
His wife was sitting in the row below, but she was mostly hidden from the video’s frame, he explained.
He was actually delivering the drink to her.
“If you look in the bottom right hand corner of the video closely, you can briefly see a blonde with [a bob haircut], and that’s my wife. She’s leaning over and I’m actually looking at her,” said the man, who spoke on the condition of anonymity as he seeks to put the video, which has garnered 11 million views, behind him.
“We were with another couple who’s friends of ours and we were in stacked seating . . . My wife was sitting in the seat below the blonde lady, who’s our friend, and her husband was sitting in the seat above her, so that’s why he gave her the drink,” he continued about the Monday night exchange at Louis Armstrong Stadium — which the US Open captioned, “This is cinema.”
“There’s always a long line [at the bar], so I took one for the team and waited 25 minutes. When I got back to our seats, I was expecting my wife to be like, ‘Thank you, honey,’ but she was already holding [a honey deuce], so she was like, ‘I don’t want it,’” he recalled with a laugh.
His 41-year-old wife said the couple has received hundreds of messages and “had lots of laughs” about the clip.
“We emailed the US Open because we’re kind of like, ‘Well, do we get some free tickets or something in exchange for this viral video?” said the wife.
