Former NBA player and Republican Senate hopeful Royce White plans to declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft and claims he now identifies as transgender.
White, who only played three games in his short NBA career, made the announcement on Friday on the heels of Enes Freedom also declaring his intention to test the WNBA’s public position on trans athletes.
“I’m transgender. I identify as sometimes identifying as a woman for purposes of professional basketball,” White, 35, told Fox News.
“I think I’d be unstoppable, but I’m a team first guy,” White said, adding, “I’ll do whatever the girls need me to do.”
The 6’8” forward was drafted out of Iowa State University 16th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets but never suited up for the team due to a generalized anxiety disorder which was triggered by a severe fear of flying.
