Princess Beatrice welcomed her second child in January 2025 — and the baby’s name appeared to have a sweet nod to Queen Elizabeth II.
Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, announced the birth of their daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi on January 29.
Beatrice and Edoardo also gave the middle name Elizabeth to their eldest daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, who was born on September 18, 2021.
It’s become a trend for members of the royal family to name their newest arrivals after the late queen or her husband, Prince Philip. (Philip died on April 9, 2021, at the age of 99, while the queen died on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96.)
