You have a lot of downtime during baseball games.
A lot.
We were reminded of that during Saturday’s college baseball matchup between No. 24 Coastal Carolina and Eastern Carolina.
This became a dominant outing for Coastal, but it was an unexpected moment in the crowd that ended up grabbing the attention of many.
During Coastal’s commanding 9-1 victory, one fan’s selfie attempt took an amusing turn, drawing attention from the ESPN+ broadcast and quickly going viral on social media.
With Coastal already leading 5-0 in the third inning, the broadcast cut to the stands and two Chanticleers fans were seen engrossed in their phones, taking selfies.
Broadcasters Patrick Johnson and Mike Mullis were on the case, with Johnson casually remarking, “Selfie time for some Chanticleer fans.”
What happened next took the broadcast for a turn.
As one of the fans finished taking a standard selfie, she then repositioned the camera to take, what appeared to be, a photo of her (non-bare) butt.
The move caught both commentators off guard.
“Okay, obviously her glasses are not reading glasses because she had them down there,” Johnson joked.
“Interesting photo she took there,” Mullis reacted.
While the game itself may not have been a thriller, the “butt selfie” incident quickly made waves on social media, with fans sharing clips of the moment and laughing at the broadcasters’ commentary.
Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina’s dominance on the field was led by pitcher Cameron Flukey, who tossed seven shutout innings to secure the win.
The win bumps Coastal Carolina to 11-4 on the year.
