Embattled Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer hit with discrimination complaints over response to husband’s alleged sexual misconduct

News RoomBy News RoomApril 10, 20263 ViewsNo Comments

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has been accused of retaliating against the female employees who reported her husband for alleged sexual misconduct, The Post has learned.

At least three Equal Employment Opportunity complaints have been filed against Chavez-DeRemer.

Two of the complaints were lodged by the young female staffers that alleged Shawn DeRemer, the embattled labor secretary’s husband, sexually abused them inside the department’s Washington, DC, headquarters.

The grievances were first-reported by MSNOW and confirmed by The Post on Thursday.

The Labor Department staffers allege Chavez-DeRemer engaged in workplace discrimination and created a hostile environment after her husband’s alleged misconduct was reported to authorities.

Employees feared punishment for speaking out or resisting directives they considered inappropriate, according to the complaints.

One complaint alleged Chavez-DeRemer ordered staffers to do chores for her, including cleaning out her closets.

The complaints come amid a broader probe of the “hostile” work environment allegedly fostered by Chavez-DeRemer and her senior aides, as well as other misconduct amid her official duties, which was first exposed by The Post in January.

In February, the DC US Attorney’s Office declined to charge Chavez-DeRemer’s husband in relation to the December 2025 sexual misconduct allegations.

The Federal Protective Service, a Department of Homeland Security subagency that investigates crimes committed inside government buildings, also declined to pursue the case, sources said.

In one of the alleged incidents involving Shawn DeRemer, the Oregon-based anesthesiologist was purportedly caught on an office security camera giving one of the women a prolonged hug.

DC police visited the secretary’s office to review the footage as part of their investigation into the misdemeanor sex abuse case.

DeRemer was subsequently barred from the building, The New York Times first reported.

DeRemer’s attorney James Bell previously said that his client “categorically, unequivocally, and emphatically denies each and every one of the allegations.”

The Labor Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
