Observations from Tuesday’s Jets practice:
Something good
David Bailey again showcased his explosiveness with an inside move to sack Geno Smith, but the No. 2 overall pick also demonstrated his versatility in coverage, knocking the ball away from running back Kene Nwangwu after an apparent reception.
Something bad
Tight end Jeremy Ruckert made a handful of catches, but the Long Island native — who struggled in 1-on-1 blocking drills — also fumbled away one of his catches in the middle of the field without being touched. Rookie Cade Klubnik was intercepted twice, including a practice-ending pick from Azareye’h Thomas after the ball was tipped by Will McDonald.
Caught my eye
Some of Aaron Glenn’s most celebrated Jets teammates — Vinny Testaverde, Keyshawn Johnson, Kevin Mawae — visited training camp on Tuesday.
“It was good to see those guys,” Glenn said. “I talk to all those guys quite a bit. Man, those guys love the Jets. They are supportive of this organization.”
Injury report
Glenn said that Breece Hall (groin) will be out two to three weeks and is expected to be ready for Week 1. The head coach also said that tight end Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) and cornerback D’Angelo Ponds (calf) are getting closer to returning. Glenn believes that both players will be ready for the season-opener on Sept. 13. Garrett Wilson returned to practice after missing the previous day due to illness.
