Danica Patrick has revealed her relationship status nearly one month after claiming ex Aaron Rodgers was “emotionally abusive.”
Patrick, 43, appeared on the “Believe in the Good” podcast on Monday, June 9, where host Haley Dillon asked her whether or not she is “single right now.”
“Yeah,” the former professional race car driver candidly replied.
“I’m gonna be interested to see who’s sliding into my DMs to get to your DMs,” Dillon responded.
“That makes me screwed, so screwed,” Patrick playfully said. “Not literally either.”
Just a few weeks prior, Patrick was interviewed on “The Sage Steele Show,” where she got candid about her relationship with Rodgers, 41, claiming it “wore [her] down to nothing.” She said that their split “was sudden [and] it felt like it was my life” during the May 21 interview.
“You know, when you live with somebody and it’s, like, your whole life,” Patrick added. “It’s your dentist appointment, it’s your hairdo, it’s your clothes, it’s your mailing address. It’s, like, everything.”
Patrick and Rodgers dated from 2018 to 2020. They purchased a beachfront home together in Malibu during their relationship.
She said that she began to “lack confidence” amid their split and claimed “everything was torn to bits.”
“He leaves a trail of blood. I don’t think I’m saying too much earth-shattering stuff after there’s been enough out there,” Patrick claimed.
Us Weekly reached out to Rodgers at the time for comment.
She went on to say that she learned a lot about herself despite the difficult relationship and subsequent breakup.
“It gave me the greatest gift, the greatest gift, which was myself,” Patrick said. “You know it gave me the greatest gift of how much I needed to show up for myself and take care of myself.”
She continued, “I would say, ‘I’m built for hard things. I can handle hard things,’ and so, I just saw it as a hard thing. My nature is to try harder and to do more, and I was like, ‘What if I don’t do it for the right person? What if I just get a stick up my ass about this and get too proud?’”
While Rodgers did not address Patrick’s comments publicly, he once made a rare comment about their relationship two years after the split.
“I was dating Danica and that relationship was great for me because she is on her own journey and spirituality is important to her,” he said during an episode of the “Aubrey Marcus Podcast” in August 2022. “We both were finding our way, learning about different things [and] practicing meditation techniques.”
After her two-year romance with Rodgers, Patrick dated Carter Comstock, whom she went Instagram official with in April 2021. By March 2022, she announced they had split.
“We were together for a while, and unfortunately it didn’t work, but it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a really fun time and we didn’t do a lot of really amazing things,” Patrick told People at the time. “It doesn’t mean that there’s something wrong with either of us. It’s just a matter of finding someone who you can stand the test of time with.”
For Patrick, she’s got a few things in mind that she wants to keep at the forefront in her life as she navigates her single era.
“Two life hacks right now? Plan more fun and be grateful,” Patrick noted.
Rodgers, for his part, announced on Tuesday, June 10, that he had gotten married. Following a workout with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the quarterback told the media he walked down the aisle “a couple months” ago, but did not reveal further details about his spouse or nuptials. TMZ was first to report the news.
