Things got very spooky on Dancing With the Stars’ Halloween Night on Tuesday, October 28.
While the couples brought their best costumes — as did guest judge Cheryl Burke — to celebrate the holiday, not everyone was able to join the competition. The show opened with cohost Alfonso Ribeiro addressing Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten’s absence from the live show.
“She suffered an injury in rehearsal this morning,” he revealed. “Right now, she’s at the hospital being assessed.”
Hendrix shared a video from the hospital as the competition continued. Viewers also got a look at her and Bersten’s intro package, which revealed that she had a rib injury. Ribeiro confirmed that Hendrix has been cleared to return to the show — as long as she had enough fan votes. A video of Hendrix and Bersten’s rehearsal (which is how they were judged) was shown to the audience, who offered the duo a standing ovation.
Former DWTS pro Burke offered tips as a choreographer and a fan of the season for the rest of the couples, but she wasn’t too happy with Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy’s tango, giving them a nine while they received 10s from the other three judges.
Halloween Night also brought The Dance Monsterthon to the ballroom, which replicates “an actual ballroom competition,” with everyone performing the same type of dance at the same time until they get tapped out. The last couple standing — Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas — received five extra points to their score.
Despite the fun, Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik were sent home. (Their elimination comes after Ravnik received criticism from former DWTS pro Maks Chmerkovskiy regarding his first season.)
“This experience has meant everything to me, I cannot wait to talk about this in the future with my kids,” Affleck said following her elimination. “I did this for my kids and I’m so grateful for the experience.”
