Grab the tissues because Dancing With the Stars’ Dedication Night brought the moves — and the tears.
On Tuesday, October 14, former pro Kym Johnson-Herjaveck joined Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli behind the judges table for week five of ABC’s competition show.
“I know tonight means so much to everyone, so I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the emotion, the feeling,” Johnson-Jerjaveck, 49, shared at the beginning of the episode. “But I’m also looking forward to seeing the fundamentals we need to see in each dance. Whether it’s a great frame or fluidity of movement, I want all the feelings plus I want to see the technique too.”
While dance technique was important for the competitors, hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough also acknowledged that this week’s performances were extra meaningful.
“For this night of heartfelt stories and emotional dances, we’ve asked our stars to dedicate their performances to someone who had a profound impact on their lives,” Ribeiro, 54, shared. “And, for the first time ever, to incorporate that person into their routines.”
While Julianne, 37, reminded viewers at home that their votes should be based on the performance of the stars and not their guests, many fans couldn’t help but fall in love with VIPs like The Parent Trap’s Lisa Ann Walter and Boy Meets World star William Daniels.
At the end of the emotional night, the judges revealed a plot twist for the end of week five. After a record-breaking 50 million votes were cast, nobody was going home on Tuesday night.
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Scroll down to see each couple’s scores from Dedication Night:
