Rashee Rice won’t wait to serve his suspension.
The Chiefs receiver accepted a six-game suspension from the NFL to begin the season, meaning he will miss Kansas City’s Week 3 game against the Giants at MetLife Stadium, per multiple reports.
The NFL and NFL Players Association are finalizing the agreement, per NFL Network, and allow him to return in Week 7 against the Raiders.
Rice suspension stems from violating the league’s personal conduct policy in a multi-vehicle crash in March 2024, in which he received a 30-day jail sentence and pled guilty to two third-degree felony charges.
A disciplinary hearing had been set for Sept. 30, which comes after Week 4, but Rice and the Chiefs are now getting his ban out of the way.
The NFL reportedly wanted a 10-game suspension for Rice.
He will miss the Week 1 contest in Brazil against the Chargers, a Week 2 home Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles, the Giants tilt on “Sunday Night Football’ in Week 3, a home against the Ravens in Week 4, a road trip to Jacksonville for “Monday Night Football” in Week 5 and a potential Super Bowl preview at home against the Lions in Week 6 on “Sunday Night Football.”
