ChatGPT, schedule a reminder to read The New York Post every morning.
OpenAI has introduced a new feature called Tasks for ChatGPT users allowing them to set reminders and recurring requests.
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot operated by OpenAI that can generate text and code in response to user prompts.
The new beta edition will be available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro (paid accounts) users this week.
ChatGPT will provide a push notification on the platform users have asked the chatbot to enable.
For example, users can now set the technology to remind them to pick up something from the grocery store in a week.
The updated technology will also permit people to set recurring requests such as reminding them to log their work hours every Friday afternoon.
To create a Task, users will need to click on the dropdown menu and select “4o with scheduled tasks.”
There, users can easily manage reminders and requests via the web app or through interactions on other platforms. The feature is designed to be flexible, with occasional suggestions for tasks based on user chats.
The Tasks feature can also enable scheduled web browsing. Using the feature, users can instruct ChatGPT to check for concert tickets monthly — though it can’t run continuous searches or make purchases.
Though still in its early stages, the feature offers practical functionalities typically expected from digital assistants like Siri or Alexa.
Tasks is part of OpenAI’s venture into AI agents — models that can operate somewhat independently.
OpenAI is using this beta period to gather user feedback before expanding the feature to the broader ChatGPT community, including mobile apps and the free version.
The new feature comes as users have turned to ChatGPT to help them with everything from getting a pay raise to finding true love.
