Carrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, enjoyed a rare, goal-worthy date night.
Underwood, 43, and Fisher, 45, stepped out at the Nashville Predators’ home hockey game against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, March 28. (The Canadiens won 4-1.)
“Smashville legends in the house tonight. Welcome back @mfisher1212 & @carrieunderwood!” an Instagram post from the Predators read, referring to Fisher’s past tenure on the Nashville team.
For the occasion, Underwood wore Fisher’s No. 12 jersey with a pair of jeans. Fisher, for his part, opted for an olive button-up, khaki trousers and a camo baseball cap.
The couple’s Saturday date night was a special homecoming for Fisher, who played pro hockey for the Predators from 2011 to 2017.
“This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make, but I know I’ve made the right one. I’ve decided to retire from the NHL,” Fisher, who was initially drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 1998, said in an August 2017 statement. “I believe that this team, that this city, is going to win a championship, and I’m going to be the biggest fan. No one will be happier than I will be to see it happen, because, these fans, they deserve it.”
He walked back his retirement decision six months later with Underwood’s support.
“Carrie asked me everyday what I was going to do and she was excited for me to come back,” Fisher said in a January 2018 press conference of rejoining the Predators. “I had the blessing of the family, [and] so felt good about that.”
Fisher officially hung up his skates in May 2018 after one final season with the Predators.
Amid his pro hockey career, Fisher began dating country star Underwood in 2008. The couple tied the knot in 2010 before welcoming son Isaiah nearly four years later.
“He makes me happy all day every day,” Underwood exclusively told Us Weekly in 2016 less than one year after giving birth to Isaiah. “He’s adorable and he’s smart and he’s sweet. I am beyond lucky. I don’t deserve him.”
Underwood and Fisher expanded their family with son Jacob in 2019, shortly before their family of four took a step back from the spotlight.
“I kind of got to maybe get back to some of my roots by not being on stage for a minute,” Underwood said during an Apple Music interview in 2020. “I got to be outside so much and I got to work in the garden and just be a mom and be a wife and be at home. It’s the most I’ve been still in over 15 years.”
