Britney Spears Is ‘Lying Low at Home’ as Her Team Looks Into ‘Treatment Options’ After DUI Arrest (Exclusive)

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 9, 20260 ViewsNo Comments

Britney Spears is avoiding the spotlight after her arrest for driving under the influence.

“Britney has been lying low at home,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “She knows it’ll be a spectacle the next time she steps out, so she’s trying to avoid that as long as humanly possible.”

The insider shares that Spears’ 19-year-old son, Jayden James, “has been there with her,” and she has also “seen” her 20-year-old son, Sean Preston. (Preston and Jayden, whom Spears shares with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, moved to Hawaii with their father in 2023 but have since returned home to California.)

Britney, 44, has also been in touch with her mother, Lynne Spears, who was photographed arriving in Los Angeles just two weeks before the pop star’s arrest.

“Lynne is very worried about her and keeping tabs on the situation through Britney as well as her team,” the source says.

Britney was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs on March 4 after she was seen “driving erratically at a high rate of speed,” according to the California Highway Patrol.

Police released Britney from jail the following morning, but the incident is still under investigation as officials await the results of a blood test that the “Toxic” singer took at a nearby hospital while in custody.

After the news broke, Britney’s rep called her arrest “completely inexcusable” in a statement to Us.

“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” the rep said. “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

Britney’s rep continued, “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”

Now, the source echoes to Us that “everyone hopes Britney will get the help she needs to put her life back on track.” (The Grammy winner was previously under a conservatorship that gave her estranged father, Jamie Spears, control of her personal, medical and financial decisions for 13 years. Britney described the arrangement as “abusive” in court before a judge agreed to terminate it in 2021.)

“Her family and team are looking into treatment options for both addiction and mental health, but it won’t be easy to talk her into it unless she feels ready herself. You can’t force it,” the insider notes. “They just need to have hope that she will take this arrest and its consequences seriously, which she seems to be doing so far. She has already expressed regret about what happened.”

The source adds that Britney’s team and loved ones are “praying that she doesn’t get jail time for this,” which “would be the worst case scenario.”

Britney is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, according to online records.

Us Weekly has reached out to Britney’s rep for comment.

TMZ was first to report the news.
