Former first daughter Ashley Biden unloaded on recent coverage of her father’s mental acuity Monday, blasting it as “disrespectful and untrue,” while claiming that she’s “grateful to be angry about all the bulls—.”
The 43-year-old was adamant that her 82-year-old dad Joe was “more than capable of doing the job” of president and delivered a not-so-subtle rebuke of “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” which has quickly become a bestseller following its release last month.
“The ONLY coverup of this family is a BEACH coverup,” Ashley glibly captioned an Instagram post featuring a selfie of herself and her parents on the beach.
“The truth is, Dad gave his ALL to America and continues til this day. He NEVER gave up on you. And he listened to all of you. And he acted. The man has led his life by ACTIONS not words. He aged, YES! As we all do! And the stress of the presidency accelerates. But he was always MORE than capable of doing the job. And a damn good one.”
“Original Sin” has sparked a renewed reckoning within Democratic circles about whether or not the 46th president was mentally fit to carry out the demanding duties of the commander in chief.
Co-authors Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson report that behind the scenes, Biden was routinely forgetting the names of key confidants and supporters while his inner circle worked hard to shield him from scrutiny over the impact of his age on his ability to function.
“The noise is so DAMN disrespectful and untrue …AND, it’s just that- noise/static- created by those committed to perpetuating and profiting from some real BS. Get lost with your anonymous sources and fake news,” Ashley further sniped.
The former president broke his silence on “Original Sin” last week by claiming that he could beat up its authors.
“You can see that I’m mentally incompetent, I can’t walk,” Biden joked with reporters during a Memorial Day event May 30. “And I could beat the hell out of both of them.”
On May 8, 12 days before “Original Sin” was published, Bidenworld attempted to counter the negative PR by having the former president and his wife, Jill, sit for an interview on ABC News’ “The View.”
On May 18, two days before the book came out, Biden’s office announced that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones. First son Hunter Biden’s daughter Naomi also ripped the book, but was more direct than her aunt.
“Just read a copy of this silly book, and if anyone is curious for a review from someone who lived it first-hand: this book is political fairy smut for the permanent, professional chattering class,” Naomi chided on X last month.
“The ones who rarely enter the arena, but profit from the spectacle of those that do. Put simply, it amounts to a bunch of unoriginal, uninspired lies written by irresponsible self promoting journalists out to make a quick buck.”
Tapper and Thompson have stood by their reporting.
