Ben DiNucci needed an airport beer after getting cut by NFL team for seventh time: ‘You wouldn’t understand’

An airport beer was just what the doctor ordered for this journeyman NFL quarterback.

Ben DiNucci took to X on Saturday to commemorate the Atlanta Falcons waiving him at the conclusion of the preseason, which counted as the seventh release in his career.

The former James Madison star was signed to ensure coach Raheem Morris could rest starter Michael Penix Jr. and backup Kirk Cousins.

“Not many beers better than the airport ‘I just got cut from the NFL for the 7th time’ beer,” the 28-year-old wrote alongside a picture of said beer. “Trust me, you wouldn’t understand.”

On Friday night in Dallas, DiNucci attempted two passes in the game. Both were incomplete.

Asked by one X follower if he’d tried crying, the 2020 seventh-round draft pick showed a level head.

“What is there to cry about?” he asked rhetorically. “I’ve had a 5 year NFL career and played on Sunday night football. Pretty cool if you ask me.”

DiNucci is best known for the time he started for the Cowboys against the Eagles in 2020, after fill-in starter Andy Dalton was placed in concussion protocol. He completed just 21 of 40 passes and was sacked four times in the loss.

Aside from taking the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons to the playoffs in 2023, DiNucci has had a few training camp invites and multiple stints on several NFL practice squads.
