Amanda Batula turned to the best when it came time to treat her acne.
Batula, 33, announced her partnership with Face Reality while exclusively chatting with Us Weekly about her skincare routine and all things Summer House on Tuesday, February 18. “Growing up I had acne but I thought I pretty much grew out of it in college,” she explained. “Then after getting married in September 2021, I went off birth control and by November I started breaking out again.”
She continued: “This progressively got worse and to the point where I didn’t want to leave the apartment. It was painful and uncomfortable, and I was having a hard time looking at myself in the mirror. My skin has significantly improved since then, but I am still dealing with more breakouts now than when I was in my 20s.”
Since starting a morning and nightly routine with Face Reality, Batula has seen positive changes in her complexion, thanks to esthetician and acne expert, Madalaina Conti. “She told me to do my best to stick to my new skincare routine, be patient and hydrate,” Batula shared with Us. The Bravo star also added that she has now had her first menstrual cycle while using Face Reality and happily experienced “less severe” breakouts.
Conti told Batula to use Face Reality’s Barrier Balance Creamy Cleanser, Moisture Balance Toner , 5% L-mandelic serum , ClearDerma Moisturizer and Daily SPF in the mornings, before double cleansing with the Barrier Balance Creamy Cleanser and Ultra Gentle Gel Cleanser at night. Batula tops off her bedtime skincare regimen with the Moisture Balance Toner again followed by the Hydraremedy Gel Serum, 5% acne med and ClearDerma Moisturizer.
Besides her daily routine, Batula is also a fan of the Face Reality Brighten-C Mask, which she uses before “glamming for big events.” When it comes to makeup, she’s been reaching for her Westman Atelier concealer and bronzer as of late. Batula also shared with Us that her plush pout can be credited to the Lawless Forget the Filler lip gloss and makeup artist Taylor Fitzgerald, who taught her to put a touch of powder over her liner to make it last longer. “Trust me, it works,” Batula gushed to Us.
One of Batula’s best friends — and Summer House costar — Paige DeSorbo is also a loyal devotee of Face Reality. In November 2024, she told Us that she “100 percent” credits the brand for her otherworldly glow. After seeing DeSorbo’s results with Face Reality, Batula knew she had to give it a try, too. “You could say I was influenced,” she quipped.
The duo can be seen with their flawless skin on season 9 of the Bravo show, which recently premiered on Wednesday, February 12.
Although she couldn’t reveal too much about what lies ahead this season in the conversation with Us, Batula did admit that it was “one of [her] favorite summers ever” and definitely sees herself returning for another season along with husband Kyle Cooke.
“I always joke that Kyle’s funeral will be held on this show,” she laughed to Us. “He’s never leaving. I am enjoying it right now and I get to spend two months in a house with my best friends so I’d like to keep doing it until it doesn’t suit me or my lifestyle anymore.”
As for Lindsay Hubbard, who welcomed her first baby girl, Gemma, with boyfriend Turner Kufe in December 2024, Batula hopes to see the mom back in their infamous house next summer.
“I can’t imagine not spending my summers with her anymore,” she told Us. “I know that one way or another we’ll be seeing Lindsay Hubbard on our screens.”
Fans can watch season 9 of Summer House every Wednesday on Bravo or the following day on Peacock.
