Fowlie joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 2022 and became a breakout name behind the scenes thanks to the viral “Domingo” sketch — originally titled “Domingo: Bridesmaid Speech” — which he cowrote with Ceara O’Sullivan. Featuring Marcello Hernández, the sketch first aired in October 2024 when Ariana Grande hosted. Fowlie has also written for A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter and the LGBT-themed web series “Go-Go Boy Interrupted.” In September 2025, Vulture named him one of the comedians “you should and will know in 2025.”
Jimmy Fowlie Reveals Christina Downer’s Disappearance
When Fowlie first went public with details about Downer’s disappearance in December 2025, his message spread through Hollywood. The SNL writer’s industry connections led notable names across comedy and reality TV to amplify his message in real time.
“My sister has been missing and we are worried that she isn’t safe,” Fowlie captioned a social media post at the time. “Her married name is Downer but she may go by Christina Fowlie. Please share this so that if anyone has seen her, they can give any information to the police.”
SNL stars Bowen Yang, Sarah Sherman and Chloe Fineman helped boost the search, joined by Ariana Madix, Angie Harmon, Amy Schumer, Casey Wilson and Wendi McLendon-Covey.
The Last Time Jimmy Fowlie Heard From Christina Downer
Fowlie offered intimate details about his sister’s life in another December 2025 revealing the last time they spoke.
“Christina is very attached to her dog Rex. He’s a min pin and if you see her chances are he’d be with her,” he wrote. “Last seen in Koreatown. I heard from her on Nov 26th. She was active on social media up to Dec 15th.”
The LAPD later confirmed Downer was last contacted via text on December 10, 2025. Officials described her as a 38-year-old woman with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing approximately 115 pounds. “The family wants the public to be aware that Christina Downer has no known medical conditions and has not gone missing before,” police said.
Jimmy Fowlie’s Update on Christina Downer
The SNL writer broke the news on April, 29, 2026, that the search for Downer had been adjusted to a homicide investigation.
“The LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation,” Fowlie wrote on social media. “Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable.”
One day later, the LAPD released a statement with new, additional information.
“Robbery-Homicide Division continues to investigate the disappearance of Christina Downer,” LAPD said in a statement to Us Weekly on April 30, 2026. “Although the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located, and her case has not been reclassified as a homicide. RHD will diligently investigate this case until a resolution can be reached.”
Jimmy Fowlie Shares Details About Christina Downer’s Phone
In his April 2026 update, Fowlie dropped a bombshell allegation about the weeks before Downer vanished.
“We have reason to believe that in the weeks before she went missing, her phone and social media were compromised,” he wrote. “The individual(s) in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money and to create a false narrative that she was going ‘off the grid.’”
He added, “I am sharing this because I believe that whoever is responsible is hoping to erase her in every way possible. I want to amplify her story in the only way I know how.”
Arrests Made in Christina Downer’s Death
More than one year after she was last seen, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced on November 2, 2026, that Brandon was charged with one count of murder and two felony counts of injuring a spouse in connection to Downer’s death. Markowski was also arrested and hit with one felony charge of accessory after the fact.
“More than a year has passed since Christina Downer vanished and her family and friends have dealt with uncertainty amid the profound loss of someone they loved so much,” District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said in a statement at the time. “Although Ms. Downer has not been located, we are charging two individuals today who are accused of playing a role in her death and disappearance and we will hold them accountable for their actions.”
Authorities said they believe Brandon killed Downer on or around September 19, 2025, while Markowski allegedly helped dispose of her body.
The DA’s office also confirmed that Downer and Brandon were in a relationship when she disappeared.
The LAPD also shared details about the case in an October 30, 2025, press release, in which they explained that Downer’s ex-husband requested a welfare check in December 2025 when he was unable to get in touch with her after several attempts.
When questioned by police, Brandon allegedly said that Downer moved out months earlier and she left behind her belongings including her vehicle and dog.
It is not currently clear if Brandon or Markowski have entered pleas or retained legal counsel following their arrests.
