Titans CEO apologizes to fans for abysmal start — but still believes in Robert Saleh

News RoomBy News RoomOctober 17, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

The Titans are sorry for being sorry.

Tennessee, who has yet to win a game this season, is publicly acknowledging its failures so far while standing behind head coach Robert Saleh.

Titans CEO Burke Nihill apologized to fans Friday amid the team’s 0-5 start, telling ESPN that the franchise understands the frustration surrounding its continued struggles.

“I personally feel a sense of stability,” Nihill said in an interview with ESPN on Friday. “I believe that Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh are ultimately going to get this team out of the woods and restore it to competitive football. The train is on the tracks. It just hasn’t picked up momentum, but it will.”

Nihill added, “I can confidently say this organization is in a place where there is organizational belief in Mike, in Robert, and they absolutely have all the support they need to get this train moving and moving faster.”

He continued, apologizing directly to the fans for the team’s winless 2026.

“The first thing I would say back to the fans is just that we’re sorry,” Nihill told ESPN. “There’s nobody in this building that doesn’t feel … a sense of grief about it, because not only are we fans of the team as well, but we feel the sense of responsibility to deliver. And we’ve let our fans down because football is supposed to be fun.”

Saleh, who was the head coach of the Jets from 2021 to 2024, spent last season as the defensive coordinator of the 49ers prior to taking the Titans head coaching job this off-season.

“We’re going through a lot of adversity,” Saleh said. “But if we capture it the right way, we’re going to find a lot of growth, and when I tell you guys that the sun is going to shine on this organization eventually, it’s going to shine.”

This comes as the team is one of just three winless squads in the NFL with a -51 point differential, averaging under 12 points per game.

Quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in 2025, has faced increased pressure to produce amid the seemingly unstable environment.

One reporter asked him if he had gotten used to losing, to which Ward replied, “No, I’m not a loser. The record may say that we are right now. But at the end of the day, you have got to go through some stuff to try to get wins.”

Ward added, “We attack this each and every day, but for that, if you’re able to look at everyone in our locker room’s track record, we’ve all won games at a high level, and we’re looking forward to doing that in the long run.”

The Titans visit the Colts this Sunday in an attempt to avoid going 0-6.

Tennessee has gone 3-14 in each of its last two seasons, and they haven’t been to the playoffs since 2021.
