The Amazing Race’s Jaime Gets Emotional About Elimination After Racing With Brother Cody for Mom (Exclusive)

News RoomBy News RoomOctober 16, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

The Amazing Race’s Jaime Tribo had an emotional reaction after she and brother Cody Langlois, who were racing for their mom, were eliminated for the competition show.

“At the end of the day, all we wanted was to call our mom and say that she never had to worry about her bills, medical bills,” Jaime, 34, exclusively told Us on Thursday, October 15, while fighting back tears following her and Cody’s elimination. “We could move her out of the condo. So knowing that and knowing we couldn’t do it is heartbreaking.”

Jaime and Cody, 36, told viewers that they were competing on The Amazing Race for their mom, Anje. Prior to the show, Anje suffered a serious fall in the shower and was subsequently diagnosed with persistent post-perceptual dizziness disorder (PPPD). The condition is a balance issue that causes frequent dizziness, per the Cleveland Clinic.

The siblings’ goal was to win the $1 million prize and move their mom into a safer and more accessible home amid her condition. Jaime and Cody were ultimately sent packing after coming in last place during the scramble in Marrakech.

“The big driving force to us is that we kept saying on the race we didn’t care if we got along all the time or not because we had the motivation factor, which was our mom,” she told Us. “And for us, our mom means everything, so it didn’t really matter. Cody didn’t care if I only had one limb, and I was just like crawling my way. We were going to make it to that mat with whatever it took.”

The pair watched their elimination episode with their mom, who also got emotional.

“There [were] a lot of swear words in the last episode watching it, and followed with a lot of tears,” Jaime recalled. “I’m crying, she’s crying .. it’s heart wrenching for her and for us to see.”

Cody added that his mom had a lot of “opinions” about their time on the series.

“That is a strong European woman, and she is opinionated,” he told Us.

Cody also shared that he was “heartbroken” to watch him and Jaime lose after a close foot race between grandfather and grandson duo Doug and Dylan Matter.

“It was a rough watch. It was rough to live through it, but it’s also rough to relive it and just you know watch how close we were,” he explained. “Like obviously, we knew it was coming, but just to re-feel all those [feelings] and see how close it was and what we would have done [differently.]”

The Amazing Race airs Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
