Pringles offers die-hard fans chance to take love of chips to the grave — with $28K sweetener

News RoomBy News RoomOctober 14, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Pringles is giving one die-hard fan the chance to take their love of potato chips to the grave — literally.

The snack giant has unveiled a bizarre Halloween sweepstakes offering a personalized cremation urn shaped like its iconic cylindrical can, along with enough cash to keep a chip lover munching for the next 200 years.

Dubbed “once you drop” — a play on the Pringles slogan, “once you pop, you can’t stop!” — the morbid marketing stunt launched Tuesday, inviting fans to prove their loyalty to the brand even after they’ve kicked the bucket.

And the grand prize is nothing to sneeze at — even from six feet under.

The lucky winner will pocket $28,080, which Pringles bills as an “afterlifetime” supply of its signature crisps.

That’s the equivalent of one $2.70 can per week for 200 years — or 10,400 cans — although the company is handing over cash rather than arranging deliveries to the cemetery.

The custom-made urn, meanwhile, is valued at $500, bringing the total prize package to $28,580.

As nutty as the promotion sounds, there’s a real-life story behind it.

Fredric J. Baur, the man credited with designing the famous Pringles can, was so proud of his creation that he asked to be buried in one.

After his death in 2008, his family honored his wishes by placing a portion of his cremated remains inside a Pringles Original container.

Now Pringles wants to give another fan a shot at the same unusual send-off — this time with a purpose-built, precious-metal urn.

The company even enlisted a real-life funeral director known as Dan the Funeral Man to help promote the giveaway in a tongue-in-cheek video.

Mars Snacking executive Mauricio Jenkins said the campaign embraces “Halloween’s dark humor and Gen Z’s appetite for absurdist storytelling.”

To enter, fans must visit OnceYouDrop.com and sign a digital “Will and Taste-ament” declaring their devotion to the stackable snacks.

Fortunately, the pledge isn’t legally binding — meaning winners can collect their loot without promising to spend eternity inside a Pringles can.

The official rules even advise anyone seriously considering a chip-can burial to consult a lawyer.

The sweepstakes is open to US residents 18 and older, with entries closing Oct. 22.

A winner is scheduled to be drawn around Oct. 23, with notification expected around Halloween.

For one fortunate fan, it could be the ultimate opportunity to rest in Pringles.
