The wheels appear to be falling off in New England right now.
Is it too much to expect them to right the ship in Buffalo against a division rival after looking mostly lifeless?
The lookahead line for this preseason game was Patriots +3, though that line has now moved to +7 with horrific play coming from Mike Vrabel’s group.
Things get worse when you see that Christian Gonzalez is out with an injury, so without their top cornerback they now have a clear hole in their secondary.
New England’s defense has been a bright spot this season, ranking No. 8 in DVOA.
It’s really tough to see how their defense plays without their best player.
However, the Patriots are No. 32 in offensive DVOA in just a bizarrely poor showing for Drake Maye and the rest of the offense.
Still, we’re getting a nice discount here on the line, as the Patriots should be better than their season has been so far.
Meanwhile, Buffalo’s defense ranks No. 22 in DVOA, so this could be a spot for Drake Maye to get it right.
Betting on the NFL?
With Gonzalez out with an injury, I am projecting a big DJ Moore showing this weekend and will take a shot on the Patriots to cover a big spread against a strong Bills squad.
PREDICTION: Patriots +7 (-110, BetMGM) | DJ Moore over 4.5 receptions (+148, BetRivers) | Moore 100+ receiving yards (+630, FanDuel)
