A fired Detroit TV anchor caught on camera calling her supervisor a “bitch” has been cleared to work after the network tried to enforce a non-compete agreement, according to her lawyer.
Taryn Asher filed a lawsuit against Fox 2 Detroit alleging gender discrimination and retaliation after she was booted from the network following an expletive-laden rant against her boss.
Unearthed footage in August revealed a tense exchange between Asher, who was reading a script on-camera, and a supervisor who could be heard off-camera saying they were still working on the script.
“You’re walking out really angry,” Asher said after claiming she didn’t have time to wait, which apparently prompted her boss to storm off set.
“Bitch! Jeeze, oh Pete!” Asher added, shaking her head with her mouth open in shock. “Can I please finish what I’m gonna say? What the f–k! Grow up!”
As a producer appeared to fix Asher’s microphone pack, she added: “I’m so done with her antics, telling on me every five seconds. I’m done.”
On Thursday, Asher reached an agreement with the network to kill a non-compete clause that blocked her from working at another Detroit station for six months from the day she was fired in June. Her other claims remain pending in court, according to Tad Roumayah, her attorney.
“With this non-compete issue now behind her, Ms. Asher is actively pursuing opportunities in the industry and she hopes to stay in Detroit, a community she has cherished and where she has developed meaningful connections with viewers over the years,” he told The Post in a statement.
Asher reportedly received a warning after her foul-mouthed fumble, then a notice of suspension and a termination letter for engaging in “unprofessional behavior,” including the use of profanity and “outbursts in the newsroom.”
Asher has worked in local news for 30 years and won 10 local Emmys. She started at Fox 2 Detroit in 2007, and in 2022, she and Roop Raj were made co-lead anchors.
In her lawsuit against the station, Asher alleged it “discriminated against her by treating her worse than co-anchor Roop Raj, and terminated her contract when she complained.”
She also denied allegations of “outbursts” in the newsroom and claimed the station treated male colleagues accused of misconduct more leniently than it had treated her.
In a legal filing, Fox 2 Detroit responded that multiple employees had complained about Asher’s behavior in the week before she was placed on paid leave in November 2025.
The station accused Asher of shouting at employees over her interview assignments, repeatedly using profanity and having “confrontational and disrespectful interactions” with her co-workers.
In one instance, the station alleged Asher shouted at two colleagues after she mistakenly believed an interview that she booked had been handed to Raj – when the interview was actually assigned to her the entire time.
