Longtime Los Angeles news anchor Dunia Elvir is leaving Telemundo 52 after 25 years.
Elvir is stepping away from the newsroom effective immediately to focus on new projects, teasing on her social media she has something new lined up.
Elvir, whose LinkedIn profile lists her as a news anchor at Telemundo/NBC and president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, addressed the sudden career change in a post Monday after receiving questions from followers about whether she was okay.
The veteran anchor told fans that she was “better than okay,” saying her departure marked “the beginning of a new chapter.”
“Stay tuned for more details,” Elvir said, adding in Spanish that fans would hear more news from her “in a few days.”
Furthermore, she thanked those who reached out with emails, texts, and calls: “Thank you. I feel loved, and it truly means more than you know,” Elvir wrote.
