Kate Middleton Visits Cancer Patients at Same U.K. Hospital Where She Underwent Treatment

Princess Kate Middleton visited with fellow cancer patients during a public engagement at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital, where she previously underwent treatment.

“Wonderful to spend time with patients, staff and families at The Royal Marsden Hospital, to see their vision for holistic cancer care first-hand,” Kate, 44, wrote via Instagram on Friday, September 11. “From plans for a new specialist Centre for Holistic Wellbeing and Recovery to the complementary support already available, inspiring to see how these services, alongside clinical care, can make a meaningful difference to people through treatment, recovery and beyond.”

Kate, dressed in a cap-sleeved emerald dress, met with several patients to discuss their journeys, in addition to local staff members. She also noted via Instagram that it was “encouraging” hearing how funds from her Three Peaks Challenge have enhanced patient care and research.

Kate was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024, subsequently undergoing a preventive round of chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden. The Princess of Wales announced in January 2025 that she is in remission.

To raise awareness for cancer, Kate tackled the Three Peaks Challenge, a mountaineering event across peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, in June.

“I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back,” the princess wrote via Instagram June 28. “The Royal Marsden is a place that holds great meaning for me and whose care and expertise are life changing for so many people.”

She continued at the time, “Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare. Every individual is different, and ensuring there is a whole person approach to care enables those living through cancer to manage the deeply personal challenge of diagnosis. Holistic therapies complement clinical pathways and support patients’ ability to maintain their wellbeing, resilience and quality of life during an exceptionally difficult time.”

Since completing her treatment protocol, Kate has been candid about her experience.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” she recalled during a July 2025 public engagement. “Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult. You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to. … It’s a roller-coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be, but the reality is you go through hard times.”
