Patrick Mahomes knows one of his own was hurting and reached out to show him some love.
Tucker Franklin, a Kansas City media member and content manager for KC Sports Network, has been a part of several different podcasts related to the Chiefs and Royals, posted on social media that his father, Doug, unexpectedly passed away last week.
As love poured in from social media, one of the NFL’s best players was waiting on his direct messages on X.
“I think it’s easy to wonder if the quarterback of your favorite team is actually a good guy,” Franklin posted with a screenshot from the Chiefs quarterback. “We don’t have to wonder about that in KC [red heart emoji].”
Mahomes sent Franklin a heartwarming message.
“Praying for your family, man,” Mahomes said to Franklin in a private message. “Chiefs and chiefskingdom is with you!”
“Man, thank you so much for reaching out. Means more than you’ll know. I appreciate you,” Franklin replied with a red heart emoji.
Mahomes reacted to the message with a heart emoji of his own.
Franklin has posted in-depth video breakdowns that have included reviews of full seasons and playoff runs.

Franklin also co-hosts “That Football Show,” a podcast alongside Sports Illustrated writer Matt Verderame. He has been absent from the show lately as he attends to family matters.
