One of Tony Romo’s biggest sponsors isn’t saying whether or not it still has a relationship with the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback following his OWI arrest last month.
Six separate attempts by the California Post to reach Skechers for comment on its partnership with Romo in wake of his much-scrutinized July 23 run-in with Wisconsin cops have not been returned.
On two different occasions, an assistant for Skechers spokesperson Jennifer Clay said she was unavailable to speak with The Post due to meetings she was attending. Requests seeking callbacks from the rep were then not returned.
Romo and Skechers have been working together since 2017, shortly after he played his last snap in the NFL.
At the inception of their deal, Skechers president Michael Greenberg said he and his company were positive Romo’s “reach will help convey how our athletic and casual footwear delivers on style and comfort for men everywhere.”
Romo’s appeared in plenty of commercials for the brand over the years, and he even shared an ad for a pair of Skechers sneakers on his Instagram page just three weeks before he was taken into custody in Milwaukee County for allegedly drunk driving.
Four of his last six IG posts, in fact, have all been Skechers ads. None have been made since the arrest, however.
Another one of Romo’s major sponsors, Bayer — which he just recently began working with — also did not respond to multiple messages from The Post seeking comment on the status of their relationship.
A rep for Corona told The Post on Tuesday that neither the beer maker nor other companies in the Constellation Brands network have worked with Romo since 2022. The former Pro Bowl signal-caller had previously been seen in a series of popular Corona commercials touting the “Corona Hotline.”
Romo played in the NFL from 2004 to 2016 and became a star analyst for CBS in retirement. The network, though, said Romo was on leave “until further notice” following his arrest.
On Tuesday, President of CBS Sports David Berson called the situation an “evolving” one that “we are still assessing.”
“There is no timetable or final decision at this time,” Berson said.
Former Texans pass rusher J.J. Watt has been tapped to be Romo’s fill-in for the time being.
