Group demands federal investigation into trans dolls with removable genitalia that will soon hit Minnesota classrooms

A nonprofit is demanding a federal investigation into Minnesota’s upcoming rollout of transgender dolls designed to teach kids “about the different options that exist for who they can be.”

Defending Education, a conservative-aligned group that has filed lawsuits against transgender policies in schools, filed a complaint with the Department of Education and the Justice Department over the program that promises to bring “first-of-their-kind” dolls to classrooms across the North Star State.

“Although MyGender Dolls are reportedly the result of ‘state-funded efforts’ and intended for use Minnesota schools, there is no indication in news reports or on the MyGender Dolls website that Minnesota parents have been informed about MyGender Dolls’ forthcoming launch,” the group wrote.

“DE urges your departments to investigate Minnesota’s MyGender Dolls program and take appropriate corrective action.”

The MyGender Dolls feature gender neutral names such as “Sam,” and are intended to be used for “therapeutic” activities with children as young as 4 to “learn about the different options that exist for who they can be.”

The paper dolls come from six years of research at the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Institute for Sexual and Gender Health.

While the University of Minnesota’s Medical School got $15 million annually from the state, the university previously told The Post that no public funds were used for research on the MyGender Dolls.

Researchers paid for “trans and gender diverse” children to play with the paper dolls and discuss gender in groups.

The dolls include over 100 interchangeable accessories, clothing, and hairstyles.

Defending Education contended that the MyGender Dolls program may have violated multiple federal policies, including the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment, the First and 14th Amendments, and President Trump’s executive orders on transgenderism.

The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment restricts federal funds from going to schools that force students to engage in activities forcing them “to submit to a survey, analysis, or evaluation” on their “sex behavior or attitudes.”

The group also cited a recent Supreme Court case last year that concluded public schools must give parents notice and an opt-out for certain LGBTQ material in the classroom.

Lastly, Defending Education cited several of Trump’s executive orders, including one targeting “indoctrination in K-12 schools … based on gender ideology”

The Post contacted Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), MyGender Dolls and the state’s Department of Education for comment.
