Giants release four players to trim roster after offseason additions

News RoomBy News RoomMay 7, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

All the signings over the past few weeks inflated the Giants roster, and they released four players Thursday to get down to the 90-player limit.

They parted ways with defensive tackles Elijah Chatman and Marlon Tuipulotu, linebacker Swayze Bozeman and wide receiver Courtney Jackson.

Chatman was with the Giants the past two seasons, playing in all 17 games (three starts) in 2024 and three games in 2025.

He was an undersized defensive tackle at 6-feet, 278 pounds, and at times was used as a blocking fullback on offense.

It is clear new head coach John Harbaugh prefers bulk and mass on the defensive line.

The Giants traded their most massive defensive tackle, Dexter Lawrence, to the Bengals and recently added seven defensive tackle/nose tackle options, most notably veterans D.J. Reader and Shelby Harris.

They also selected Bobby Jamison-Travis in the sixth round of the NFL draft.

For now, the Giants are carrying three placekickers on the roster: Jason Sanders, Ben Sauls and rookie Dominic Zvada.

Zvada, who won a national championship at Michigan, is one of six undrafted free agents signed by the Giants.

The others are DT Anquin Barnes Jr. (Colorado), DT Ben Barten, (Wisconsin), CB Thaddeus Dixon (North Carolina), LS Ben Mann (Boston College) and OL Ryan Schernecke (Kutztown).

The Giants open a two-day rookie minicamp Friday.

The Giants signed four of their seven 2026 draft picks: WR Malachi Fields (third round) and their three third-round picks, DT Bobby Jamison-Travis, OL JC Davis and LB Jack Kelly.
