Ravens coach’s message to undrafted Diego Pavia about minicamp chance

News RoomBy News RoomMay 3, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Despite going undrafted, Diego Pavia has a chance.

The controversial, brash Heisman finalist accepted an invitation to the Ravens minicamp after the NFL draft and earned a deal with the team shortly after.

Jesse Minter, the new Ravens head coach hired following a two-year stint as the Chargers’ defensive coordinator, had a message for Pavia as minicamp closed on Sunday.

“So now he’s in the door and it’s like, ‘show us what you can do,’” Minter said Saturday of the 5-foot-10 signal caller. “And just like all the undrafted rookies, that’s what I would say.”

Minter added, “For us, we see it as an opportunity to bring a player in that could potentially be something, and that’s really what this is for us.”

Currently, multiple-time MVP Lamar Jackson leads the quarterback room, and long-time backup Tyler Huntley is the No. 2 on the roster, affording Pavia the opportunity to make an impression.

Former UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano also signed a three-year deal with Baltimore after going undrafted, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapaport.

And as of now, he’ll likely battle with Pavia for No. 3 on the depth chart.

At Vanderbilt, Pavia became a household name in 2025, posting an SEC-best 70.6 completion percentage, accompanied by 29 passing touchdowns to eight interceptions.

Pavia also carried the ball 167 times for 862 rushing yards and 10 TDs, and — perhaps most notably — led Vanderbilt to a historic win over then-No. 1 Alabama in 2024.

Pavia finished the game with 252 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, along with 20 carries for 56 yards.
