Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer has offered an update on quarterback Dak Prescott’s mindset following his split from ex-fiancé Sarah Jane Ramos.
“Dak and I have had a ton of conversations,” Schottenheimer, 53, told reporters on Monday, March 30, via The Dallas Morning News. “He’s in a really good spot, obviously, with what he’s dealing with is incredibly tough. But if anyone can handle it, he can.”
The coach added that he tries to stay in close contact with his players no matter what they are going through off the field.
“I try to talk to all the guys,” Coach Schottenheimer insisted. “I reach out to most of them. I actually got a plan. I’m a little bit, a little, I guess, obsessive, compulsive in that regard in trying to reach out to position groups to check in. Some of them don’t really reach back out and that’s cool, too. I get it. Hey guys, I get it, you’re on vacation.”
Prescott, 32, and Ramos, 32, abruptly canceled their wedding and sent guests an apology email to explain the situation earlier this month. They were scheduled to tie the knot on April 10 in Lake Como, Italy.
“It is with heavy hearts that we privately inform our attendees that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding,” they wrote in the email, per TMZ. “We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and we welcome your prayers.”
Prior to the couple’s shocking announcement, Ramos seemingly alluded to trouble in the relationship in an Instagram post on March 5.
“I truly believe you can get through anything in life as long as you have really great friends,” she captioned a photo from her bachelorette party. “I love these girls so much ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥.”
Social media speculation ran wild given the abrupt nature of the twosome’s wedding cancellation, with multiple reports surfacing that the NFL star had been caught cheating using incognito social media profiles in the weeks leading up to his wedding.
Prescott has not responded to the cheating allegations. However, Ramos’ spokesperson shot down theories that a blowout argument ultimately caused her to call off her engagement.
“There wasn’t any rockiness in the lead up, and there was no big argument or blow up,” her rep told People on March 9. “It was a mutual decision.”
Her statement continued, “They love their girls, and they’re committed to raising their children together in the most loving and positive way. It’s still shocking for them since this happened so recently, and they ask for privacy while they sort everything out.”
Ramos personally weighed in when fans speculated via social media that she and Prescott may have disagreed over a prenuptial agreement.
“This had nothing to do with a prenup,” Ramos clarified via Instagram on March 9. “I hope we can put that rumor to rest now.”
Prescott and Ramos went Instagram official in November 2023 and confirmed one month later that they were expecting a baby. They now share daughters Margaret Jane “MJ” Rose, 2, and Aurora Rayne, 10 months.
The former couple announced their engagement in October 2024, after Prescott reportedly proposed with a 10-carat emerald cut engagement ring valued at $1 million.
