Uber expansion at 3 World Trade Center a boon to local economy

News RoomBy News RoomMarch 26, 20261 ViewsNo Comments

Uber’s 86,000 square-foot expansion at Silverstein Properties’ 3 World Trade Center, announced this week, brought the car-service giant’s total space there to nearly 500,000 square feet on 11 floors.

The deal brings the 2.5 million square-foot skyscraper to 89% leased. Uber’s diverse neighbors include WPP, Hudson River Trading, Diageo, Kelley Drye and Cozen O’Connor. Some 13,000 employees of 15 different tenants work there.

But as important as Uber’s growth is for Larry Silverstein, it’s also good for the local economy overall. The company has more than 2,000 employees in the city after starting with 800 just a few years ago.

Rents at 3 World Trade haven’t been disclosed, but sources said the “ask” on the tower’s few available high floors is $130 to $150 per square foot.
