Kidman’s last public appearance with her husband was at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 game in Nashville last June. Days after that outing, the pair celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary, with Kidman marking the occasion publicly.

According to a well-connected Nashville source who spoke exclusively with Us, the couple “had been quietly separated for a while now but needed time to figure out if they were going to actually divorce.”
The source referenced growing “distance” between the couple, who had been living apart. The same insider added, “She had faith they could work it out. This wasn’t Nicole’s decision, and she is devastated.”
However, Kidman’s “trust was lost, and it was too far gone.”

Kidman requested to be the “primary residential parent” of the couple’s two daughters. She also submitted a marital dissolution agreement that both she and the country singer had signed, according to court documents obtained by Us.
Kidman previously said that she and Urban were “always working through stuff,” in a 2021 interview which resurfaced following their split. “It’s very much love-based, so there’s an enormous amount of give and take. I want him to have the best life he can have, and he responds the same way,” she said at the time.

In the wake of the divorce filing, Urban faced scrutiny from fans who began diving into his song lyrics. In October 2025, Urban had a message to fans before singing his 2002 hit “You’ll Think of Me.”
“I’ve been covering like this for a long time. Stop reading s*** into it,” he said.
He also changed the lyrics to his 2016 song “The Fighter” while performing with utility player Maggie Baugh during a September 2025 performance.
